Today we are focusing on Scott Air Force Base. Not only is the base a major contributor to the local area but our son is also stationed there. When we decided to move, living near our son and family was a major reason to select the Metro East area. The selection of our home in New Athens was influenced by the base. Because of the coming and going of base personnel, the housing market around the base was very competitive. New Athens was just far enough away that the price of the house was less than similar homes closer to the base.
